Landlords or property owners with rental units in Culver City. All rental units must be registered, including rental units that are exempt from rent control, but receive tenant protections – unless the unit has an approved exemption from the Housing and Human Services Department.

The annual fee to complete your registration is $167.00 per unit.

Landlords with rental units in Culver City are responsible for paying the registration fee(s) in its entirety for the July 31, 2023 registration cycle, and each year thereafter.

The City will grant a grace period for registration through the end of the day on August 31, 2023. After that date, 20% penalties will be assessed for failure to register. The penalties will be added on the first day of each month following August 31st up to a maximum of 100%.

The City will not issue any refunds for the rental unit registration fee, including if there is a change in ownership or the rental unit is removed from the rental market.

Rental Registration is due by July 31st each year. Failure to register and pay all fees may result in penalties of 20% per month up to a maximum of 100% per registration period.

No. The City requires that businesses obtain a business tax certificate and pay annual business taxes. The landlord registration is a separate requirement and must also be completed for all rental units along with the associated rental unit registration fee.
